We are very pleased to announce that we have partnered with the fantastic team at Ecologi in our efforts to become a climate positive business.
As we enter 2022 after another difficult year, the climate crisis has understandably taken a bit of a back seat given how the COVID pandemic has had such a profound global effect. However, this does not mean that it should be forgotten about.
With that in mind, we have decided to try and “get back to normal” (providing government guidelines deem it safe to do so), as no doubt many others will try to do.
For us this starts with looking at our business goals. Not just our commercial aspirations, but in regards to the positive impact we would like to have upon the community and the environment.
Whilst we are under no illusions that we are “leading the way”, we do hope that in some way, we might “lead by example” – perhaps if other businesses can see a small company like ourselves getting involved in climate positive projects, they might just make their own contributions.
So what have we done so far?
Towards the end of 2021, we planted our first 500 trees here in the UK. This is an estimated offset of 10 tonnes of CO2 – the equivalent of 8 long haul flights or 24000 miles of driving – and the hope of saving some 30m2 of Arctic Ice. Additionally, we have contributed towards a wind-power project in Vietnam and the preservation of the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil.
Finally, we are pledging to plant trees for every new customer who signs up for a website going forward.
We are hopeful that this is just the first step, and we are very excited about making further changes and having a greater impact – both domestically and globally – as a climate positive business.
